Goal: To enhance the quality of life in Alabama communities through the arts.
Description: The Community Arts Program supports projects which may include, but are not limited to community festivals, after-school programs, performances, workshops, or exhibitions. Projects that increase the capacity of an arts organization or groups of artists are also eligible in this program. Examples of these might be developing a plan for an arts district in a community, a business and marketing workshop for artists, or funding for a position. Program Name: Design Fellowships, by Alabama State Council on the Arts
Deadline: March 1
Description: Individual artists working in architecture, fashion design, graphic design, industrial design, interior design, landscape architecture, or urban design and planning may apply for Design Fellowships. These cash awards are made to individual artists in the design arts based on:
Eligibility: Fellowship applicants must be legal residents of Alabama for a minimum of two years prior to the application deadline, and are expected to maintain residency during the grant award year (Oct. 1-Sept. 30). Artists who have previously been awarded a Fellowship are eligible to apply for a second Fellowship six years after their first Fellowship. Artists who have received two Fellowships are no longer eligible to apply.

Program Name: Art Administration Fellowships by Alabama State Council on the Arts
Deadline: March 1st
Description: Arts Administration Fellowships are awarded to administrators to improve their skills and ability to serve their organization and community. Fellowship funds may be used to attend administrative related workshops, engage in mentorship programs and/or any other activities geared toward strengthened the administrative capacity of the individual arts administrator.
Who is Eligible to Apply: An applicant applying for an arts administration fellowship must be working in an administrative capacity with an Alabama arts organization in a full time paid position for two years prior to the application deadline date. Additionally, the applicant must be a legal resident of Alabama and must have lived in the state for two years prior to the application deadline date. And, if awarded a fellowship, the recipient must maintain residency during the grant award year (October 1 – September 30).

Deadline: The last day to submit an online grant request is September 30, 2016.
Giving priorities to who: Facilitate access to and participation in cultural experiences for persons with low- to moderate-income levels. Ensure the availability of a broad array of artistic opportunities/venues that reflect the diversity of the community.
Requirements: To be considered for grant funding, organizations must meet the following criteria:
- Have a nonprofit, tax-exempt classification under section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code;
- Be located or provide service in BBVA Compass’ markets;
- Have broad community support and address specific community needs;
- Demonstrate fiscal and administrative stability; and
- Align with one or more of the Foundation’s six focus areas:
- Community Development (including Financial Literacy)
- Education
- Health and Human Services
- Arts and Culture
- Environment and Natural Resources
- Diversity and Inclusion

Description: A total of $50,000 was distributed to be used for a variety of programs including arts workshops for youth, community theatre productions, and museum/gallery improvements. Since 2006, $964,500 has been awarded to support various arts activities across BBCF’s 12-county service area. The Community Grants Program awards approximately 40 organizations each year to community-based organizations based in and serving the region. Most grants are between $500 and $3,000. BBCF receives over 100 proposals per year and funds about 40.
